Case Study: Door & Mechanical Services

CLIENT: NORTHEAST AIRPORT

BACKGROUND

An airport possessed three large airport structures that were unusable due to structural deflection and contaminant issues. New doors alone were not conducive without major renovation. The total cost of abatement and replacement of the old structures was estimated at $50 million.

OBJECTIVE

Our goal was to save our client time and money by developing a comprehensive design that addressed the structural and contaminant issues and allowed for new doors instead of total building replacement.

SOLUTION

Groome worked with an engineering firm to enable proper new door use with the existing structures. Our structural upgrade plan included truss refurbishment, bottom rails, siding, paint, motors, and glass replacement.

RESULTS

Groome completed the project on time and on budget, saving the customer $45 million over the structure abatement and replacement option.
